Longmont, Co – Longmont Dairy Farm announce the winner of their annual Holiday Eggnog Bottle Design Contest. This year, the award went to the youngest competitor in the years of the competition: a third-grade student from Littleton. The winner this year is by Bailey Fitzpatrick, from Mt. Carbon Elementary school.
The Longmont Dairy Farm supplier for glass milk bottles requires a three-month lead time for new bottle designs. After approval of the design, the glass bottles are printed using a process similar to silk screening, then shipped to Longmont Dairy just in time for Thanksgiving.
“The competition is open to all students between kindergarten and twelfth grade,” said company representative Molly Burgess. “That makes the competition pretty stiff for the younger kids. But through the years, we have seen young kids continuing to enter each year. And each year they get better.”
Bailey’s design was based on the annual theme of “A Silly, Festive Snowman,” and features a snowman decorated as a cow. It won out, over scores of entries, as the best representation of that theme.
Like many kids, Bailey enjoys art, loves to read, and is looking forward to starting a musical instrument in the 4th grade. She has been taking piano lessons for six months and likes to dance with her friends in Tap Dance class.
Bailey likes to play with her younger sister and their Goldendoodle, Copper. She helps her parents bake and decorate cakes, and she knows how to whip cream. At Christmas, Bailey enjoys decorating cookies and eating them with a glass of milk.
Bailey’s favorite museum is the Littleton Historical Museum because she says, “It’s like going back into the olden days.”
Longmont Dairy Farm typically announces the contest and theme in July, with an entry deadline in mid-August. While thinking about Christmas in July is difficult, many kids are home and need summer projects to work on. The annual bottle contest supplies a fun art competition and a real, commercial use for the winning design – on the glass, quart sized bottles that are used for Longmont Dairy Farm milks including eggnog.
The eggnog, either regular or cinnamon, in the holiday design bottles, must be preordered by subscribed customers and is delivered during the week of December 10.
